THEFT
Portland police investigated a theft that occurred sometime between 9 p.m. Friday and 7:20 a.m. Saturday on East High Street.
On Tuesday, Camille Elick, 405 E. High St., Portland, reported the theft of a four-foot by four-foot aluminum railing from the front steps of her home. The railing had been cemented in.
COUNTY ACCIDENT
A two-vehicle accident occurred Friday morning in Bearcreek Township on county road 450 East near county road 500 North.
Jonathan W. Miller, 25, 102 E. Elm St., Bryant, told Jay County police that a vehicle driven by Todd A. Noonan, 17, 609 Welty St., Berne, who was northbound, was in the southbound lane of 450 East.
Noonan told police that Miller was traveling south in the northbound lane and that when he applied his brakes, his car slid into Miller’s vehicle.
Estimated damages to the 1988 Mazda, registered to Joan Miller, Bryant, and the 1986 Ford F-150, registered to Todd and Ben Noonan, same address as the driver, were between $2,500 and $5,000. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
A bean field owned by Jeff Knittle, 3749 East 400 North, Portland, also received damage.[[In-content Ad]]
