Dale Schwartzkopf

Dale E. Schwartzkopf, 52, Portland, died Tuesday at Jay County Hospital following an extended illness.
Born in Portland to Kenneth and Pat (Wheeler) Schwartzkopf of rural Portland, he was a 1977 graduate of Jay County High School.
He is survived by his wife Beverly (Myers) Schwartzkopf, whom he married on May 3, 1980.
He worked as an engineer for Beckett Bronze in Muncie for 18 years and was a member of the Goldwing Motorcycle Club and the Moose Lodge in Portland.
Surviving besides his wife and parents are two daughters, Angie Sheffer (husband: Mitch), rural Pennville, and Leslie Johnson (husband: Kyle), Ellettsville; two sisters, Mae Haviland (husband: Chris), Zionsville, and Melissa Schwartzkopf (partner: Kristen), Indianapolis; and two grandchildren.
Services are Friday at 5 p.m. at Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland with Pastor Jim Nichols officiating. Visitation is two hours prior to services.
Memorials may be sent to the Jay County Humane Society.

Lilyan Byrd, 96, Portland, died early today at her home. Services are pending at Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland.

Services for Norma D. Rees, 89, Redkey, are Friday at noon at Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland with Pastor Tom Fett officiating. She died Monday at her son’s home in Dunkirk.
Born in Portland to Russell and Lola (Hoover) Dunmoyer, she was a 1939 graduate of Portland High School.
She was preceded in death in 2005 by her husband Wayne Rees whom she married on Nov. 1, 1939.
She retired from Kerr Glass in Dunkirk in 1980 after 34 years of service.
Survivors include two sons, Stephen Rees (wife: Betty), Redkey, and Ryan Rees (wife: Lynn), Dunkirk; a daughter, Sharon Claycomb, Portland; a brother, Ervil Dunmoyer (wife: Evelyn), Portland; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation is Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. and two hours prior to services on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be sent to State of the Heart Hospice with envelopes available at the funeral home.
