Gun, cash stolen
Someone broke into a Portland man's home and stole a handgun and $250 in cash recently.
Larry Poole, 111 Rose Drive, told Portland police that the burglary occurred between sometime on Thursday and before 10:44 a.m. on Friday. Entry was made through a window.
Phone stolen
Someone stole a rural Dunkirk woman's cellular phone from her car on Tuesday.
Eleathia Backer, 2629 South Ind. 1, said the theft occurred while she was working at Oasis Beauty, Tanning and Gifts, 304 W. Votaw St., Portland. Her LG EV 3 phone was taken from the unlocked car about 5 p.m. Portland police are investigating the theft.
Shed, house entered
An Ohio man told police that someone broke into a shed and a house he owns in rural Bryant.
Jim Reinhard, 8740 Parkhaven Point, Centerville, told Jay County police that the property is located at 5660 North 700 East. Someone entered a shed by cutting a screen and lifting a window. Several items were knocked off the wall. Entry to another building also apparently was attempted.
In the house, someone removed a hinge from a door inside the house, broke a lock and entered the upstairs. Reinhard said it appears that nothing was stolen. The person renting the property, Lori Peace, was not home when the burglaries occurred. Reinhard called police Tuesday at 12:23 p.m. Total damage was estimated at $100.[[In-content Ad]]
