PARKING LOT ACCIDENT
Two Jay County High School students were involved in an accident Tuesday afternoon in the high school parking lot.
Saffron Shai Redwine, 16, 1203 S. Shank St., Portland, told Jay County police that she was pulling out of a parking space and didn’t see a vehicle driven by 18-year-old Aaron Joseph Bickel, 3408 North 250 West, Portland.
Bickel told police he was driving north in the parking lot when Redwine pulled out and collided with his vehicle.
The accident occurred at 3:30 p.m.
Estimated damages to the 1989 Chevrolet Cavalier registered to Flint and Katie Redwine, same address as the driver, and the 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix, also registered to Edward Bickel, same address as driver, were less than $1,000.
PENNVILLE ACCIDENT
A Portland woman was injured and transported by Jay Emergency Medical Service following an accident Tuesday afternoon in Pennville.
Lisa Lynne Emerick, 38, 627 N. Pleasant St., was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Brittney Danielle Emerick, 15, of the same address, when the accident occurred at the intersection of South and Harrison streets. Lisa Emerick complained of pain in her chest.
The 4:35 p.m. accident happened when Mark Travis Osborne, 21, 365 E. Maple St., Pennville, was traveling east on South Street approaching the intersection at Harrison Street.
Osborne told Jay County police he saw Emerick’s vehicle stopped waiting to turn. He further stated that he looked north to see if there were any vehicles approaching and didn’t see any.
He said Emerick’s vehicle didn’t begin to move so he attempted to make a left turn and Emerick began turning at the same time, and the collision occurred.
Emerick told police she was driving northwest on Harrison Street and saw Osbornes’s vehicle stopped on South Street. She stated she was slowing down to make the left turn onto South Street when Osborne turned suddenly, colliding with her vehicle.
Estimated damages to Osborne’s 2000 Hyundai Tiburon, and the 1994 Geo Tracker, registered to Jonathan B. Emerick, same address as driver, were between $5,000 and $10,000.
Osborne’s vehicle was towed from the scene.
MERCER ACCIDENT
Two Portland women and a Salamonia man were taken to Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater, Ohio, following a 6:20 p.m. accident on Friday along the Ohio-Indiana State Line Road, just north of Park Road near Fort Recovery.
Kathrina M. Ressler, 24, and two passengers, Angel Martyne, 21, and Josh Roberts, 22, were taken by ambulance after the car they were in spun around, hit an embankment and flipped end over end before coming to a rest facing southbound on Ohio-Indiana State Line Road.
No information was available on the condition of the passengers from the hospital due to federal privacy laws.
Ressler was driving a 1996 Pontiac Sundbird north approaching Park Road, when the pavement turned to gravel. She lost control of the car due to road conditions and speeds estimated at 65 miles per hour, according to Mercer County police.
The heavily damaged vehicle was towed from the scene.
DEER ACCIDENT
A Fort Recovery man was involved in a car/deer accident on Sunday at 5:05 p.m. in Mercer County.
Robert J. Muhlenkamp, 64, 1742 Flaler Road, was traveling east in the 1000 block of Ohio 119 in Recovery Township when a deer darted into the path of his 1993 Buick Regal.
He told Mercer County police he couldn’t avoid a collision. His car received minor damage.[[In-content Ad]]
