Rescheduled
The Portland Aviation Board meeting scheduled for today has been moved to June 22.
The board will meet at the conference room at the airport, 661 West 100 North, Portland at 3:30 p.m.
Deadline extended
The Jay County office of the Farm Service Agency has extended the deadline for reporting prevention of planting crops to July 15.
If producers are going to file a claim for prevented planting, her or she must supply the county FSA office with seed, chemical and fertilizer receipts for the acreage to show intent to plant. The failure to plant must have been weather-related, and not a management decision. The eligibility cut-off date was June 5.

Church vandalized
A Portland man reported that someone spray-painted on the back of the Gospel Lighthouse Church, 122 E. Race St. sometime Monday or Tuesday.
Phil Jellison told police someone wrote with gold spray paint “God is gay” on the back of the church. Someone also spray painted his SUV, which he parked late Monday afternoon behind the church. Jellison noticed the spray paint Tuesday around noon.
School business
The Jay School Board conducted the following business at its meeting on Monday evening:
•Learned the high school’s emergency preparedness plan had been reviewed and approved by the Indiana Department of Education.
•Approved bus requests by the Jay Community Center Summer Day Camp.
•Approved a field trip by the girls’ basketball team.
•Accepted a $750 donation from Verizon.
In area courts
In Adams Superior Court, Midwest America Federal Credit Union was granted $3,813 from Michael H. Whetsel, Geneva; Chad Schlichter, rural Bryant, was granted $1,889 from Trina Hamrick, Linn Grove.; and Adams Memorial Hospital was granted $2,125.34 from Mark and Stacie Hirschy, Bryant.[[In-content Ad]]
