Felony arrests
Accused of possession
A Portland man was arrested this morning by Jay County police on a drug possession charge.
Toby W. Teeter, 18, 961 S. Bridge St., was arrested for possession of marijuana, a class D felony.
Jay County police noticed a vehicle parked on a vacant lot in Pennville. Police asked for the identities of the people in the vehicle, then had the K-9 check for drugs. The dog allegedly indicated there were drugs in the vehicle.
Police then searched one of the passengers, who was Teeter. He allegedly possessed a bag containing 36 grams of marijuana.
Possession of marijuana, normally a misdemeanor charge, is enhanced to a felony when the amount of marijuana is more than 30 grams.
Teeter was released from the Jay County Jail this morning on a $3,000 bond.
Arrested by Dunkirk
A Dunkirk woman was arrested this morning after she was pulled over by police.
Brenda S. Patterson, 40, 310 E. Washington St., was arrested by Dunkirk police for possession of a controlled substance, a class D felony, and driving while intoxicated, a class C misdemeanor.
Patterson allegedly possessed a drug not prescribed to her.
She was being held in the Jay County Jail this morning on a $4,000 bond.[[In-content Ad]]
