Man injured
A rural Portland man was injured Tuesday when he lost control of his motorcycle in Wayne Township.
Perry M. Harris, 54, 6120 West 300 South, suffered a fractured elbow.
He was transported to Jay County Hospital by Jay Emergency Medical Service.
Harris told Jay County police he was driving west on Ind. 67, east of Ind. 26, and a vehicle in front of him suddenly stopped. He attempted to stop but his brakes locked, causing him to lose control of the 2006 Yamaha. The motorcycle rolled three times and Harris was thrown from it.
The 12:27 p.m. accident caused damage estimated at $2,500 to $5,000.
Medication stolen
A Portland resident told police someone stole her medication while she was at work.
Michelle Carder, 601 W. High St., told Portland police that about 10 Vicodin pills were taken from her workstation at Alphabet Inc.-Portland Division, 700 Industrial Park Drive, Portland. The theft occurred between 2:40 and 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday. The medication was taken from a tote bag while she was on a break.
Cornfield damaged
A rural Portland resident told police that someone damaged his cornfield. Mike Dunmoyer, 3854 West 200 South, said someone apparently drove into the field and spun around.
Dunmoyer said the corn crop is owned by Don, Roger and Fred Walter. Dunmoyer said the corn crop received minor damage. He called Jay County police to report the incident Tuesday at 2:23 p.m.[[In-content Ad]]
