Velma Green

Jan. 5, 1924-Feb. 28, 2010

Services for Velma G. Green, 86, Portland, are Friday at 7 p.m. in the Portland Chapel of Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Davis officiating. She died Sunday at Persimmon Ridge in Portland.

Born in Jay County to Emerson and Mary Olive (Offill) Holly, she was preceded in death on July 6, 1998, by her husband Ernest Oral Green, whom she married on May 10, 1942.

She was owner and operator of Green's Beauty Salon for 36 years and was a member of the Eastern Star Halfway Chapter and Women of the Moose in Portland.

Survivors include a son, Dennis Ernest Green (wife: Shirley), Portland; two brothers, John Charles Holly, Ridgeville, and Leonard D. Holly (wife: Willadeen), Muncie; and one grandson.

Visitation is Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be Saturday in Green Park Cemetery.

Linda McCoy

May 13, 1947-March 2, 2010

Linda Sutton McCoy, 62, 7601 South 175 West, Portland, died Tuesday at her daughter's home in Bryant.

Born in Jay County to Dorwin and Mary Helen (Green) Myron, she is survived by her husband Larry McCoy.

She was preceded in death in 1993 by her husband Perry Sutton, whom she married in 1981.

She worked as a flagman for mobile home transport.

Surviving besides her husband are her mother, Mary Helen Myron, West Point, Miss.; two sons, Jason Loy and Mitch Loy, both of Portland; a daughter, Staci Morehous (husband: Eric), Bryant; three stepsons, Bruce Sutton, Rodney Sutton and Greg Sutton, all of Portland; a brother, Larry Myron, West Point, Miss.; and three grandchildren.

Services are Friday at 2 p.m. at Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Rogers Durham officiating. Burial will be in Lawndale Cemetery in Ridgeville.

Visitation is Friday from noon until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Debra Logan

July 11, 1961-March 2, 2010

Debra Marie Logan, 48, Knightstown, the sister of a Dunkirk woman, died unexpectedly on Tuesday.

Born in Fort Wayne to William Albert and Betty Jane (Dawald) Miller, she was a 1980 graduate of Norwell High School in Ossian.

Survivors include her husband James E. Logan, whom she married on Dec. 13, 2003; three sons; a daughter; her parents; a sister, Billie Newsome (husband: Dennis), Dunkirk; two nephews and two nieces.

Services are Thursday at 11 a.m. at Knightstown United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Wells officiating. Burial will be in Glen Cove Cemetery, Knightstown.

Visitation is Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel.

Services were held today for Shane Alan Dennis, 36, Wylie, Texas. He died Sunday at his home.

Born in Portland, he was the son of Stanley Eugene Dennis and Pamela Sue (Smith) Dennis.

Survivors include his mother, Pamela Sue Dennis, Wylie; his grandmother, Marilyn Smith, Portland; aunts and uncles; and two cousins. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Heart Association or American Cancer Society.

Elizabeth Schulze

Nov. 14, 1935-Feb. 24, 2010

A funeral Mass was held Monday for Elizabeth "Betty" L. Schulze, 74, Anna, Ohio. The sister of a Fort Recovery woman, she died Feb. 24 at her home.

Born in Wendelin, Ohio, to Andrew and Cecelia (Hemmelgarn) Albers, she is survived by her husband Richard B. Schulze, whom she married on June 11, 1957.

Others surviving are two sons; two brothers; and three sisters, including Mary Schmitz (husband: Fred), Fort Recovery.

Wilma Smith

Aug. 1, 1926-March 1, 2010

Wilma J. Noble Smith, 82, Berne, a former Bryant resident, died Monday at Chalet Village, Berne.

She was born in Warren to Marion and Luetta (Trout) Noble. She was preceded in death by husbands Ralph Smitley Jr. and Walter A. Smith.

She was a member of High Street United Methodist Church, Geneva, and retired from Blue Flame Gas in 1986 after 21 ½ years of service. She also was a homemaker.

Survivors include a brother, James L. Noble (wife: Joyce), Bluffton; a sister, Glenna L. Lee (husband: Roger), Poneto; and a stepson, Roger Smitley (wife: Peggy), Bryant.

Services are today at 3 p.m. at Haggard and Sefton Funeral Home, 225 W. Adams St., Decatur. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Bluffton.

Calling is today until 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
