Church wreck
A vehicle driven by a Hartford City man struck a utility pole in a church parking lot after he reportedly failed to stop at an intersection Sunday morning in Knox Township.
Jason R. Sheward, 39, 1456 S. Ind. 3, Hartford City, was driving east on Ind. 26 when failed to stop at Ind. 1 and drove into a church parking lot, striking a utility pole and driving through the church’s yard. Sheward suffered minor bleeding in the accident.
An estimated $2,500 to $5,000 worth of damage was caused to Sheward’s 1997 Ford F-150 and the utility pole in the 12:25 a.m. accident.
Deer crashes
A Pennville woman damaged her vehicle after she hit a deer early Monday morning in Jackson Township.
Sara B. Bedwell, 26, 6731 N. St., Pennville, was traveling west on county road 650 North near 550 West when she hit a deer after it ran onto the road.
Between $2,500 and $5,000 worth of damage was caused to Bedwell’s 2005 Nissan Maxima in the 12:20 a.m. accident.
An vehicle driven by a Ohio man sustained damage to the driver’s side after hitting a deer Monday night.
Austin D. Jones, 22, 441 Lewis Ave., St. Henry, Ohio, was driving a 2004 GMC Sierra east on county 100 North near Portland when he hit a deer than ran in his path.
An estimated $1,000 to $2,500 worth of damage was caused to the vehicle, registered to Tyler J. Thobe, 1036 Union City Road, Fort Recovery, in the 9:15 p.m. accident.
Lot wreck
Vehicles driven by a Portland woman and a Fort Recovery man collided in the MainStreet Market parking lot Friday.
Kayla S. Weaver, 23, 731 Katelynn Dr., Portland, said she was driving her 2012 Dodge Durango north in the parking lot when a vehicle driven by Fredrick A. Eischen, 26, 4762 Indiana Ohio Line Road, Fort Recovery, collided with her front bumper. Eischen said he driving east in the parking lot when Weaver struck the passenger side of the 2002 Chevrolet Malibu he was driving. Both drivers said they had trouble seeing due to heavy rain. Weaver complained of neck pain.
An estimated $5,000 to $10,000 worth of damage was caused to Weaver’s vehicle and the Malibu, registered to Elizabeth R. Eischen, same address, in the 9:22 p.m. accident.
Screen vandalism
A rural Portland man reported someone damaged his front screen door Tuesday night.
Jessie Miller, 2632 W. Ind. 67, told police someone ripped off his front screen door. Miller said it couldn’t have been caused by storms and that he thinks someone was attempting to break into his home.[[In-content Ad]]
