Santa deadline extended
Because of the abundance of local stories, there was no room in today’s edition of The Commercial Review for children’s letters to Santa Claus.
Those letters will appear in the Dec. 21 Christmas greetings supplement to The CR.
The deadline for submitting Santa letters has been extended to Dec. 15.
Meds stolen
A Portland woman reported that her mother’s car was broken into and some medication was stolen.
Amber Nava, 808 W. High St., told police that someone entered her mom’s unlocked 1997 Pontiac while it was parked at Fireman’s Bingo, 520 S. Meridian St. and stole prescription medication. The theft occurred between 5:30 and 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Backing accident
A Portland teenager backed her Jeep into another vehicle at an intersection in Portland Tuesday evening.
Sadie D. Robbins, 17, 704 S. Shank St., Portland, was driving west on East Water Street at the intersection with Meridian. A semi was making a turn to head eastbound on Water Street when Robbins began to back up to give the semi more room to navigate the turn. Robbins’ Jeep backed into a vehicle behind her driven by Nicole K. Coons, 35, 420 N. Charles St., Portland.
Less than $1,000 of damage was caused to Robbins’ 2002 Jeep Liberty and Koons’ 1997 Toyota Camry in the 8:10 p.m. accident.
Backed into
A Portland man backed into a car in front of his home Tuesday evening.
Judson T. Wickey, 49, 416 N. Pleasant St., was backing out of a parking space in front of his house, when his 2006 HH3 Hummer struck a parked 2006 Chevrolet van, registered to Roman J. Wenning, 8832 East 800 North, Bryant.
Combined damage of $1,000 to $2,500 was caused in the 5:33 p.m. accident.[[In-content Ad]]
