Local notes

No community swim this week

There will be no community swim session at Jay County High School Sunday because of the Thanksgiving holiday.

The next community swim session will be Sunday, Dec. 6, when the JCHS pool will be open to the public from 2 to 4 p.m. The entry fee is $2, and an adult must accompany children 12-and-younger.

Rainbow Lake 5K is Saturday

The Rainbow Lake 5K will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in Geneva.

The entry fee for the race, which begins at the Gene Stratton Porter Limberlost Cabin, is $12 with a T-shirt and $8 without a T-shirt. Entry forms are available at http://ww.fwtc.org.

Try-outs set for Sunday

Try-outs for the Jay County Boomer Basketball traveling teams will be Sunday at Jay County High School.

Girls try-outs will be from 2 to 3:30 p.m., and the boys session will be from 4 to 5:30 p.m. The teams are for third through eighth graders and games will begin in February.
