Robert Slentz
July 28, 1923-Sept. 20, 2011
Robert L. Slentz, 88, rural Hartford City, died Tuesday at Bluffton Regional Medical Center. He was the father of a Pennville woman.
Born in Bluffton to Francis H. and Dorothy Marie (Waters) Slentz, he was preceded in death on July 6, 2010, by his wife Erla (Ely) Slentz, whom he married on July 2, 1948.
A veteran of the United States Army, he retired from Fisher Body.
Surviving are two daughters, including Christy Clark (husband: Jerry), Pennville; two sons; a sister; a brother; eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services are Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home in Montpelier with the Rev. David W. Chinn officiating. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Montpelier.
Visitation is Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be sent to First United Methodist Church, 215 E. Green St., Montpelier, IN 47359.

Jacqueline Goodnight, 76, 430 W. Lafayette, Portland, died Tuesday at her home.
Born in Jay County, she was the daughter of Arza and Doris (Haffner) Goodnight.
She had worked for United Telephone Co., Jay County Hospital and Handy Andy.
Memberships include Portland Vocational Women’s Club and Jay County Hospital Auxiliary.
Surviving are a sister, Mary Helen Rigby, Portland; two nephews and two nieces.
Services are Sunday at 4 p.m. at Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Craig Cotherman officiating.
Visitation is Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association.
