Ethanol production begins
The Andersons, Inc., has announced that production has begun at the 110-million-gallon ethanol plant, owned by the Andersons Clymers Ethanol LLC.
Mike Anderson, president and CEO of The Andersons, Inc., noted that this is the second ethanol plant the company has put into operation.
The Andersons have a grain terminal in Dunkirk.
"We are especially happy to bring this operation to Cass County where we have a generous supply of corn as well as long-standing relationships with local growers," Anderson said in a press release.
Construction on the facility, which is the largest, dry-mill ethanol plant east of the Mississippi, began during the first quarter of 2006. Along with the 110 million gallons of ethanol, the plant will produce 350,000 tons of distillers dried grains, an animal feed ingredient, annually.
The Andersons, Inc., a 37 percent equity investor in The Andersons Clymers Ethanol LLC, will manage the facility and also will provide grain origination, risk management, and DDG and ethanol marketing services.
Buffet is back
The Hoosier Buffet is back at Amishville.
The restaurant has been purchased by Camron Carimen and is managed by Chanler Kidd. Bill and Jill Brock retain ownership of the campground of the recreational site northeast of Geneva.
The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. dailty and the buffet is open each evening and all day Friday through Sunday. For more information or to make reservations call (260) 589-2124.
Society to meet
The American Society for Quality, East Central Indiana, Section 904, will meet Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Sirloin Stockade near McGalliard and Morrison roads in Muncie. The guest speaker is John Vandenbemden, Master Six Sigma Black Belt and vice-president quality as well as an instructor and consultant for QAI, Indianapolis. Vandenbemden will speak on Lean Six Sigma, a mix of Lean Enterprise and Six Sigma, which allows for the identification of hidden problems while not overlooking the obvious.
Dr. Henry Peresle, director of quality and technical service for Innovative Chemical Resources will be the pre-clinic speaker.
ASQ in East Central Indiana include Grant, Madison, Blackford, Delaware, Henry, Jay, Randolph, and Wayne counties.

Wise Supply Company Inc., is celebrating its 50th anniversary in business this year.
Dwight Wise, president of the company, has announced the milestone in the company's history. Wise is a wholesale supplier to the plumbing, electrical and heating, ventilation and air conditioning industries. Building contractors from a four-county area county on Wise for their plumbing, electrical and HVAC requirements.
The company was founded in 1957 by David and Evelyn Wise, Dwight's parents. He joined the business in 1975 and has been instrumental in the company's growth. In 1982 the business underwent a major remodeling project and added its current showroom, and in 1989 the company built its main warehouse to take care of its growing customer base.
Current employees include Dwight and Donna Wise, Janice McCord and Lee Stover.
Ride set today
The third annual AngelRide to benefit LifeStream will take to the highways in East Central Indiana today. Proceeds from the ride benefit aging adults and disabled individuals in ECI. The 10:30 a.m. poker run will begin and end at Benson Motorcycles in Muncie.
