Well child clinic set

The Jay County Well Child Clinic will be open on Tuesday, Sept. 7, from 4 to 8 p.m.
The clinic provides youth and children’s physical examinations (by appointment), TB tests, lead screenings, and children’s developmental delay screenings.
Located at 521 S. Wayne St. in Portland, the clinic is available to Jay County residents only.

STORY TIMES
Jay County Public Library has announced its story times for September. Monday, Sept. 13 and 20 will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday story times will be on Sept. 14 and 21 at 1 p.m. Children ages infant and up are welcome to attend if accompanied by an adult.
October and November story times will be held on the first three Mondays of the month at 10 a.m. and the first three Tuesdays at 1 p.m.
DRUG PROGRAMS
Adams County Memorial Hospital, 805 High Street, Decatur, will offer two free programs to help save money on prescription drugs.
The first one will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 7, at 1 p.m. in the Woodcrest Auditorium. Congressman Mike Pence and his staff will be presenting information about the Medicare Drug Discount Card.

The second program will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 21, at 10 a.m. and will meet in the downstairs classroom at Adams County Memorial Hospital. Prescription drug discount cards will be the topic of discussion.

AFTER SCHOOL MOVIES
The Geneva Public Library will have free after school movies every other Friday at 3 p.m., beginning today.
Kids, come and see the original versions of current movies about a mom and daughter who change places and a family with a dozen kids.

ESSAY CONTEST
Indiana Farm Bureau and Farm Bureau Insurance Companies invite all eighth grade students to participate in the annual Richard Lugar Youth Essay Contest.
The topic of this year’s contest is “The Perfect Pizza Begins on Hoosier Farms.” Students are asked to write about planning a healthy pizza meal with products grown on or originated from an Indiana farm with a focus on the basic food groups and the nutrients needed in our daily diet. The essays should also cover the diversity and versatility of Hoosier agricultural products.
Contest brochures will be mailed to public schools and home school representatives on Tuesday, Sept. 7, and will also be available at www.farmbureau.org.
Essays must be mailed to the local Farm Bureau county woman leader, postmarked by Oct. 18.
SCOUT SIGN-UP
The Anthony Wayne Council of the Boy Scouts of America will have a “Join Scouting Night” at various locations in Jay County on Thursday, Sept. 9, for first through fifth grade boys.
The Jay County Fairgrounds 4-H building meeting will be held at 7 p.m.
The Bryant Community Center in Bryant meeting will be at 6:30 p.m.
The Pennville Lions Club Community Center in the Pennville Park will meet at 6:30 p.m.
The Redkey Elementary School in Redkey at 6:30 p.m.
