West Jay boys earn wins

PARKER CITY — The West Jay Middle School boys basketball teams each picked up wins on the road Thursday.
The eighth grade squad defeated the host Monroe Central Golden Bears 43-33, and the seventh graders also picked up a 40-35 victory.
Nate Brackman scored 23 points to lead the Eagle eighth graders, who dominated the glass in the second half. Case Retter added eight points, and Joey Springer scored six.
Daniel Meranda racked up 16 points and 10 rebounds as the WJMS seventh grade team improved to 8-5. Kyler Carvel and Will Watson each added 10 points.
FR seventh cruises
NEW KNOXVILLE, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s seventh grade boys basketball team cruised to a 51-32 victory Thursday over the New Knoxville Rangers. The eighth graders fell 62-16.
Jackson Hobbs finished with 16 points and eight rebounds for the seventh grade squad, which improved to 9-1. J.J. Overton also reached double figures with 12 points.
Cole Wendel had six points for the FRMS eighth graders (2-8). Cole Hull and Mitch Stammen each added four points.
EJ girls top Eagles
The East Jay sixth grade girls basketball team defeated West Jay 24-18 Thursday.
On Wednesday, the WJMS sixth grade boys fell 32-20 to Delta.
Emily Muhlenkamp scored seven points to lead the East Jay girls (5-0) to victory. Britlyn Dues added six points.
The West Jay girls got 10 points from Sami Back. Kyndal Miller followed with eight points.
Dakota Grove finished with 12 points to lead the Eagle boys, and Justin Crouch scored four.
In B team action, Stormi Canterbury, Morgan Mumby and Erika Kunkler each scored four points to lead East Jay to a 12-6 win over West Jay. Hannah Chapman scored four points for the Eagles.
