West Jay boys set school record

DUNKIRK - Dalton Eyanson and Dylan Harris set the dominant tone for the West Jay Middle School boys track team Wednesday in its 76-24 victory over visiting Hartford City.

Eyanson led a sweep of the 110-meter hurdles ahead of teammates Shelby Wendel and Kyle Murdhock. He was also first in the 400 dash.

There was also a record-breaking effort for the Eagles, as Eyanson, Blake Crouch, Tyler Back and Lucas Wiemer won the 4x100 relay in 50.56 for the best time in school history.

Harris earned his victories in the 800 and 1,600 runs. He also teamed with Crouch, Back and Wiemer for the win 4x400 relay.

Crouch took the top spot in the 100 dash, and Back took first in the shot put. WJMS added two more field-event w ins with Kaelen Jewell first in the long jump and Raistlin Rice first in the high jump.

Dunn earns scholarship

INDIANAPOLIS - Jay County High School senior Trey Dunn was one of 12 Indiana high school athletes who earned the Centennial Scholarship from the IHSAA.

Dunn was recognized during the Thomas A. Brady Sports Achievement Awards Dinner Tuesday in Indianapolis.

The $2,500 scholarship was awarded to students "believed to embody everything that is right about high school sports" who are "well-rounded, positive role models who have demonstarted excellence in academics, school and community involvement, character, sportsmanship and citizenship. To be eligible, a student must be a senior who earned a varsity letter, and carried at least a 3.0 grade point average.[[In-content Ad]]
