West Jay football defeats Warriors (09/27/05)

DUNKIRK — The Warriors could not take over West Jay.
The Eagle football teams had no problem with Wes-Del Monday night as the seventh grade squad rolled to a 22-0 victory and the eighth graders won 12-2.
Zach Cash was in on two of the seventh grade team’s touchdowns, opening the scoring as he hit Anthony Skeens with a 15-yard touchdown pass. Later he ran for a 12-yard touchdown.
Kyler Maxwell added the other score when he picked off a pass and returned it 40 yards for a touchdown.
Chris Mooney made the big play for the eighth graders with a 70-yard scoring run. Drew Locke had a 1-yard touchdown run, Taylor Farmer came up with three fumble recoveries, and Josh Beaty and Zach Robbins each had an interception.
FR JV tops Redskins
FORT LORAMIE, Ohio — Eric Lamm made a couple of big plays Monday leading the Fort Recovery junior varsity football team to a 12-0 victory over the Fort Loramie Redskins.
Lamm was responsible for both Indian scores, the first coming on a 25-yard reception from Matt Braun. He intercepted a pass and returned it 70 yards to the end zone for the second Tribe touchdown.
Witt finishes first
MARION — Katie Witt took three golds and was one of two Gym City Glider gymnasts to qualify for the state meet at a competition in Marion Sunday.
Witt won the all-around competition for Level 4 gymnasts in the 8-and-younger division, scoring 33.525 points. She took the title thanks to wins in the floor exercise (8.475) and balance beam (8.2).
Lizzy Schoenlein, who also qualified for state competition, was third behind Witt in the all-around at 32.7. She finished second on the beam (8.15) and third on the uneven parallel bars (8.35).
Morgan Brown added a second-place all-around finish in the Level 5 8-11-year-old group. She scored a total of 31.175 points and was first on the bars (8.6).
Vanessa Miller was first on the Level 4 8-and-younger vault and second on the bars. In the Level 5 8-11-year-old group Malarie Houck was second on the vault and Megan Price was third on the bars.[[In-content Ad]]
