West Jay honor roll released (6/14/05)

West Jay Middle School has announced its honor roll students for the fourth nine week grading period.

Making the sixth grade A honor roll was Brooke Byers. Making the sixth grade A-B honor roll were Kylie Barber, Tiffany Bost, Taylor Burris, Jessica Bumbalough, Dezera Clay, Tyler Claycomb, Ashley Culy, Candra Garrett, Branda Geesaman, Macey Gerber, Deniann Hough, Abby Hullinger, Sam Kreps, Kimberly Nibarger, Samantha Rhodehamel, Anthony Skeens, Dakota Steed and Damon White.

Seventh grade students making the A honor roll were Brittany Crawmer, Dillon Easton and Josh Roush. Making the seventh grade A-B honor roll were Dillon Corn, Christian Fischer, Whitney Ford, Patrick Grady, Alyssa Harvey, Wil Masters, Joe Monnin, Sarah Myers, Paige Panelli, Stormy Reynolds, Sarah Shrack and Brittney Watson.

Making the eighth grade A honor roll were Jennifer Buckland, Sarah Garringer and Lauren Murrell. Students making the eighth grade A-B honor roll were Paige Beaty, Christa Castillo, Shelby Claycomb, Ashley Cosner, Lindsey Current, Ty Fullenkamp, Brittany Lothridge, Kelci Reed and Shayla Shirk.



Volunteers needed

Volunteers are needed to build the 2005 Habitat for Humanity home in Dunkirk. Blitz Build Day will be Monday, June 27, at 243 E. Commerce St. in Dunkirk from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Workers of all skill levels are encouraged to participate. A noon meal will be provided by Dunkirk area churches.

Receives degree

Katy Brawley received an associate degree in nursing from Ivy Tech, Indianapolis in May and was licensed as a registered nurse on June 8. A graduate of Jay County High School and Indiana University Kelly School of Business, she is the daughter of Bob and Rosie Clamme of Portland. She lives in Greenwood and is a labor and delivery nurse at St. Francis Hospital/Mooresville campus.

Scholarship awarded

Beth Muhlenkamp, daughter of Ed and Barb Muhlenkamp of Portland, has been awarded the Zeberl Family Health Science Scholarship at Ball State University. The scholarship is for undergraduate or graduate students who have an emphasis in community health education.

Muhlenkamp graduated from Ball State in May with a degree in health science with minors in public health and interpersonal relations.

Reading programs

Registration continues through June 18 for the summer reading program at Jay County Public Library for children, teens and adults.

Registration for the summer reading program at the Dunkirk City Public Library continues through today for preschool through sixth grade students. The program features a reading ticket to travel to new and exciting places without leaving home. The first special program will be Wednesday, June 15, from 11 a.m. to noon for preschoolers through third grade and 1 to 2 p.m. for fourth through sixth graders. Clinic open

The Jay County Well Child Clinic will be open Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at 521 S. Wayne St. in Portland for Jay County residents only. Youth and childrens’ physical exams, TB tests, lead screenings and children’s developmental delay screenings will be offered. To make an appointment for physical exams, call (260) 726-9318. The clinic is for families who are without insurance or are underinsured.

Social work

Ball State University senior Nicole Brinkerhoff, Portland, is working toward a degree in social work. She will complete her practicum through Community and Family Services in Portland.

Dean’s list

Jay County High School graduate Kinsey Fennig has been named to the spring dean’s list at Taylor University in Upland. She is a sophomore majoring in music.

Lauren Nicole McKee and Rachel Kathryn McKee have both been named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Anderson University.[[In-content Ad]]
