West Jay names its students of the month
Taking Note
West Jay Middle School Students of the Month for November were recently named.
In sixth grade was Megan Johnson, the daughter of Matt and Jennifer Johnson.
In seventh grade was Joshua Vaughn, the son of Terry and Jennifer Vaughn.
In eighth grade was Brody Barcus, the son of Kevin and Wanda Barcus.
Open house
A Holiday Open House will be held Saturday, Dec. 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Community Room at Jay County Public Library.
There will be hot chocolate and cookies to decorate. Also several crafts will be available to make with the decorations provided.
Book group
The Book Discussion Group at Jay County Public Library will discuss “The Christmas Letters” by Lee Smith at its next meeting on Monday, Dec. 20, at 7 p.m.
The book contains Christmas letters from three generations of women in the same family and also includes recipes.

Craft show
A craft show will be held Saturday, Dec. 4, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Bryant Community Center.
Receives medal
A Fort Recovery High School senior received the Honda/OSU (The Ohio State University) Partnership Math Medal.
Gena Wendel received the medal that recognizes and honors the top senior mathematics student in each West Central Ohio high school for achievements in mathematics courses throughout high school.
