Wine tasting event set (5/27/03)

Taking Note

The Art Association of Randolph County is hosting a wine event entitled, I Heard It Through the Grapevine, on Saturday, June 14, from 6-10 p.m.

Enjoy an evening under the stars with wine and hors d’ oeuvres. Three local wineries and local distributors will share information about the production and qualities of wine. Over 50 samples will be offered.

Compare Indiana and California wines, learn about stemware, temperatures and proper storage.

Wine sommelier Lisa Cunningham, of Indianapolis, will present Women and Wine. Accessories and gifts will also be available for purchase.

The Art Association is located at the historic Depot, 115 N. Howard St., Union City. Tickets are $25 per person. To purchase a ticket or for more information, call (765) 964-7227 or visit the website at artsdepot.org.

GRADUATES

Two local students graduated from the University of Findlay, Findlay, Ohio, on May 22.

Forrest Hammeren, Portland, graduated with a master’s degree in occupational therapy; and Clark May, Fort Recovery, with a bachelor’s degree in technology management. May graduated cum laude.

TOUR

The Headwaters Heritage Home and Garden Tour is Saturday, June 14, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Tour several local homes and gardens, and visit exhibits and participate in several other activities throughout the day. Tickets are $8 and are available at area banks.

QUILT SHOW

Swiss Stitchers of Berne and Creative Quilters of Decatur and Bluffton have chartered a bus to attend the National Quilting Association’s annual Quilt Show in Columbus, Ohio, on Saturday, June 21.

The show will take place in the Greater Columbus Convention Center in downtown Columbus and will feature over 350 quilts, special exhibits, and more than 80 vendors.

The bus will leave the Gerber parking lot in Decatur at 5:30 a.m. and then pick up again at the First Mennonite Church, Berne. Cost for the trip is $27.50 and includes admission to the show. A short stop for breakfast will be made, and a stop at a sit-down restaurant for supper. Return will be around 10 p.m.
