Winners named at Redkey
Taking Note
Students at Redkey Elementary School recently participated in the Optimist Oratorical Contest. Winners were MaKenna Davis and Cole Wendel. They will compete in the county competition on Feb. 14 at Judge Haynes Elementary. The alternates were Chelsey Zimmerman and Hunter Miller.
The champion of the spelling bee was Leah Hamilton. She is the daughter of Erin Marcum and is in the fifth grade. She will represent the school at The Star Press Regional Spelling Bee in Muncie.
Sara Garringer was the alternate. Her parents are Greg and Laura Garringer and she is in the fourth grade.
Redkey’s PTO Talent Show/Dinner will be held Friday with dinner being served at 5 p.m. Dinner will include a pulled pork sandwich, chips, baked beans, cole slaw and a drink. A slice of pie will be available for $1. The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children. The talent show will begin at 7 p.m. The cost for the talent show only will be $1.
French bistro
The Jay County High School French Club will have its annual Mardi Gras Café on Tuesday, Feb. 12, from 5 to 7 p.m. Croissants, French onion soup, crepes, éclairs, quiches and fruit tarts will be available.
Meeting
There will be an informational meeting on Thursday at 5:45 p.m. for anyone interested in traveling to Paris in 2014. The meeting will be held in room 307 at Jay County High School.[[In-content Ad]]
