Winners named in library contest (11/24/06)

Winners of Jay County Public Library's "Get Caught Reading" contest were recently chosen by visitors to the library.

Winning first place in the children's division was Zavier Garringer with a photo of him reading "Here a Chick, There a Chick." He is seven years old and the son of Andrea and Eric Garringer, Redkey.

Winning first place in the adult division was Becky Shreeve with a photo of an infant boy sitting on a bull while an adult reads to him. Becky is from Salamonia.

Contest photos may be picked up at the library during regular hours.

Holiday happenings

The Jay County High School music department will hold its annual Christmas Concert on Sunday, Dec. 3, at 2 p.m. in the gymnasium.

Included will be the Jay Patriot Concert Band, Danze Cantate, Music Connections and Friendship Company.

The annual cookie walk will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and after the concert. Admission is free.

Residents of Chalet Village Health and Rehabilitation Center are inviting children to visit Santa and have cookies and milk with him on Saturday, Dec. 9, from 9:30 to 11 a.m.
