WJ eighth takes opener

WINCHESTER — The West Jay Middle School eighth grade football team dominated its season opener Thursday, blanking host Driver 30-0. The seventh graders fell, 26-22.
James Williams powered the eighth grade team, running eight times for 63 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He also had a fumble recovery for a TD and recorded an interception.
Bryce Bantz added seven carries for 73 yards, and Jacob LeMaster scored a TD.
Phillip Newsome had 177 yards and TD on 16 carries for the seventh graders, and returned a kickoff 90 yards for a score. Joey Springer added 1-yard TD run.[[In-content Ad]]
