LYNN - Four West Jay Middle School wrestlers recorded a pair of pins Thursday night to lead the Eagles to a pair of victories.

WJMS defeated host Randolph Southern 66-12, and knocked off Winchester Driver 48-45 to improve to 6-1 on the year.

Raistlin Rice scored the fastest pin of the evening for the Eagles, finishing off his 105-pound match against Randolph Southern in just seven seconds. His pin against Drive came in 31 seconds.

Dustin Tighe (110), Chase Louck (115) and Lucas Wiemer (135) also won both of their matches by pin. Bryce Bantz (90), Carrolton Fischer (120) and Daniel Ring (HWT) added pins in the victory over Driver.

Playing for title

CELINA, Ohio - Fort Recovery Middle School's seventh grade boys basketball team advanced to the finals of the McKirnan Classic Thursday with a 34-33 victory over the St. John's Blue Jays.

The Indians (13-2) outscored St. John's 9-1 in the second quarter to take a nine-point halftime lead. However, the Blue Jays rallied in the second half had had a two-point lead late.

Josh Pohl came through for the Tribe, hitting a lay-up and then converting a free throw for a three-point play to win the game.

Bobby Mattraw scored 14 points to lead Fort Recovery, and Elijah Kahlig had six. Pohl and Kent Retz scored five apiece, and Kyle Timmerman added four.

Dunn leads EJMS

MUNCIE - Catherine Dunn scored in double figures to lead the East Jay Middle School girls basketball team to a 34-27 win Thursday over Muncie Northside.

Dunn totaled 10 points and three assists for the Chiefs, who finished the season at 9-1. Chloe Steigerwalt grabbed nine rebounds, and Lucy Hemmelgarn added five points.
