WJMS football tops Golden Bears

PARKER CITY — The Eagles scored in every facet of the game.
West Jay Middle School’s football team got two on offense, one on defense and another on special teams as it rolled to a 22-0 victory Monday over the host Monroe Central Golden Bears.
Justin Crouch was in on two of the WJMS touchdowns, scoring on a 4-yard run and tossing a 35-yard TD pass to Andrew Trewyn. Jacob Geesaman reached the end zone on a 40-yard punt return, and the Eagle defense also added a safety.
Tyler Jester ran five times for 47 yards for West Jay, and Bowen May added 39 yards on three attempts. May also made nine tackles and a sack, and Mitchell Ferguson, Jacob Myers, Hunter Selvey and Crouch each had an interception.

EJ 8th grade rolls
PARKER CITY — The East Jay Middle School eighth grade volleyball team picked up its 15th win of the season Monday, 25-15, 25-15 over the host Monroe Central Golden Bears.
The seventh grade team lost 25-20, 25-24, and the sixth graders fell 25-23, 25-19.
Lizzy Schoenlein had seven assists, four points, two aces, two digs and two kills for the Chief eighth graders (15-4), and Britlyn Dues totaled seven service points, three kills and two aces. Deanna Chenoweth added seven service points and three aces.
Kaylee Inman totaled four service points and three kills for the seventh grade squad (6-11). Irene Braun and Alayna Aparicio each had three service points and three kills.

Kailee Denney paced the EJMS sixth graders with six service points and two aces. Maggie Pryor had four service points and two kills.

Four score three
Four players each tallied three goals to share the scoring lead Saturday in Jay Community Center’s Boomer fall soccer league.
Brendan Runyon and Sean Bailey each had three goals in the preschool/kindergarten division, and Giovanni Perod and Rueben Gutierrez scored three goals apiece in the third/fourth grade division. Adding two goals each were Maddox Huffman, Dylan Marentes, Carter Link, Drew Lloyd, Justin DeHoff, Mathias Perod, Mason Edwards and Brayden Sprunger.
Scoring two touchdowns apiece in the Boomer flag football league were Trentin Street, Austin Jellison, Maddox Huffman, Canyon Nichols, Hunter Lawhead, Blake Bogenschutz, Payton James and Koby Lewellen.

St. Myers places 10th
MONTPELIER — Doug St. Myers was the top local driver in Saturday’s action at Montpelier Motor Speedway.
St. Myers, of Redkey, finished 10th in the UMP Modifieds race. Travis Nichols and Brian Baldauf, both of Portland, placed 14th and 16th respectively in the Thunder Cars event.
Jamie Heiser, Fort Recovery, was 15th in the Super Streets race, and Richard Williams, Portland, followed in 18th. Jeff Baldauf and Todd Weaver, both of Portland, took fifth and sixth in the Super Streets B Main race, falling just short of the top-five finish needed to advance.[[In-content Ad]]
