West Jay Middle School has announced the Students of the Month for January.
In 6th grade is Morton Garringer, son of Wade and Susan Garringer, in 7th grade is Anneliese Jetmore, daughter of Debra Lane and Kirk Jetmore, and in 8th grade is Brittney Watson, daughter of Bill and Donna Watson.
Dean’s list
Christopher Mercer, Bryant, and Susan Edwards, Ridgeville, made the dean’s list for the fall of 2005 at Indiana University East in Richmond.
Anna Culy, Portland, was named to the dean’s list for the fall of 2005 at Taylor University in Upland. She is a junior majoring in history.
Danielle Marie Look, Portland, has made the dean’s list for the fall of 2005 at Vincennes University. She is majoring in printing technology.
Curtis Foreman, Portland, made the dean’s list for the first semester of 2005-06 at Purdue University and has been nominated for membership in The National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Purdue University Chapter. He has also been selected to have his biography published in The National Dean’s List, 2005/2006. Foreman is the son of Rhea and David Holcomb and Michael and Bonnie Foreman, all of Portland.
Shannon O’Dell, Pennville, has made the dean’s list for the fall semester of 2005 at Defiance College in Defiance, Ohio.
David A. Knoth, Bryant, the son of Richard and Priscilla Knoth, has made the dean’s list for the 2005 fall semester at Ball State University.

With the 2006 legislative session underway, State Rep. Bill Davis encourages students to apply for the Statehouse Page Program.
The page program allows students from across the state to experience the lawmaking process first hand. Through the program, students get to participate in Statehouse activity as a page for the day
Pages must be at least 13 years old, and will receive an excused absence from school for the day. Each page is responsible for transportation to and from the statehouse.
