WJMS names students of the month (11/03/05)

West Jay Middle School announces its Students of the Month for October.
For sixth grade was Jessica Chittum, daughter of Ms. Teresa Chittum and Vince Chittum.
For seventh grade was Brooke Byers, daughter of Ron and Anne Byers.
For eighth grade was Dillon Easton, son of Dale and Tami Easton.
Senior programs
Programs for senior citizens have begun at Jay Community Center in Portland.
On the first Thursday of each month will be euchre at 1 p.m. Every Wednesday in November from 10 a.m. to noon will be a cornhole toss league. Each Thursday in November will be chess and checkers club from 9 to 11 a.m.

Angel tree
The 2005 Angel Tree project has begun in Jay County to provide children with two gifts for Christmas — clothing and a toy. Last year more than 500 children were given gifts and 50 senior citizens received food boxes.

AngelWish donations
Donations are being accecpted for the fourth AngelWish campaign, sponsored by LifeStream Services, to make the holidays brighter for seniors and isolated individuals.
Items needed are toiletries, robes, sleepwear, phones with large numbers, coffee makers, peanut butter, tuna and canned items, small pots and pans, towels, washclothes, blankets, emergency packets (flashlights, bottled water, batteries,) or monetary donations.
Donations are being accepted through Novemeber and may be dropped off at Portland Place, 430 W. Lafayette St. For more information, call Vicki Maynard or Terry Gordon at LifeStream, (800) 589-1121.
Fall party
The Fort Recovery Fort Pioneers 4-H Club recently held its fall party at Wendelin Park. Games were led by members Aimee Pottkotter, Rachel Tobe and Beverly Lennartz and advisors Marilyn Fortkamp and Eileen Lochtefeld. Books to be used for fair projects were also chosen.[[In-content Ad]]
