West Jay Middle School recently named its Students of the Month for January.
In sixth grade was Noah Claycomb; in seventh grade was Sam Selvey; and in eighth grade was Shelby Wendel.
Sports banquet
A Boomer Basketball Sports Banquet will be held Friday, Feb. 13 at Jay Community Center in Portland. Hot dogs, drinks and cookies will be served from 5:30 until 6 p.m. and awards will be given at 6 p.m.

The sixth annual Hunting Heritage Banquet will be held Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Winchester Moose Lodge. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and dinner will be served at 7 p.m.
