Workforce specialists to speak at luncheon (11/25/06)
Business roundup
The Portland Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a networking luncheon Tuesday at noon.
The event will be held in conference rooms A and B of Jay County Hospital, 500 W. Votaw St., Portland.
David Holt, vice president of Workforce Development Policy and Federal Relations for the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, will be the guest speaker. He will preview legislature for 2007.
Ethanol squabbles
An ethanol plant is coming to Bluffton despite the Wells County Economic Development director telling Broin Companies officials to look elsewhere.
The director, Garry Jones, is an investor in Bio-Energy, which has planned to build a 100-million gallon ethanol plant in Wells County for more than a year.
Broin officials have told The (Bluffton) News-Banner that Jones may have misunderstood company officials, as they did not identify themselves.
"I was straightforward with them and up-front that I was involved in a local effort, even though in a minuscule way," Jones told The News-Banner for a recent story.
Breakfast with Santa
The Bluffton Regional Medical Center Nursing Leadership Group will host a Breakfast with Santa event Dec. 2 from 8 to 10 a.m.
