Rockets win FW league title

FORT WAYNE — The Rockets keep winning.
And they won a league title in the process.
Portland broke open a 5-1 lead Thursday against the Fort Wayne Marlins with a nine-run ninth inning for a 14-3 victory.
It was the ninth straight win for the Rockets (21-10), who finished first in the Fort Wayne League with an 11-3 record. Portland has won 17 of its last 20 games.
The Rockets led 3-1 after the seventh inning, and extended their lead to 5-1 in the eighth before the offensive show in the ninth.
Dalton Tinsley led the Portland offense with four hits and three runs. Billy Geeslin and 2014 South Adams High School graduate Collin Affolder each had three hits.
Mitch Waters (2002 - Jay County) and Justin Miller both had two hits.
Miller, a southpaw, got the win for Portland, tossing 128 pitches over eight innings, allowing only one run on five hits and striking out five.
Wesley Hibbard (Jay County) pitched the final inning for the Rockets.
Portland will travel to Cincinnati for doubleheaders Saturday against the Yorkville Yaks and Sunday against the Cincinnati Chiefs.”
It will return home Aug. 1 as to host the World Baseball Congress tournament.
