Local notes
Locos to hold tryouts
The Locos Express baseball team will conduct tryouts for the spring 2015 season Tuesday at Simmons Field in Lima, Ohio.
For the 14-and-younger and 13-and-younger teams, tryout will be from 5 to 8 p.m.

Hub City 5K set for Saturday
The Union City Athletic Boosters will be hosting the second-annual Hub City 5K Run/Walk Aug. 2.
The race will begin at 9 a.m. at Union City Junior/Senior High School.
Cost is $10 for students, $20 for adults and $50 for the entire family.

Adams County Challenge underway
The 2014 Adams County 5K Run/Walk Challenge is now underway.
Registration forms are available at www.adamscountyfoundation.org, and the series fee covers registration to all events, including shirts for each event.
The next race is the Bellmont High Mileage 5K Run/Walk.
The race will be held at 9 a.m. Aug. 9 at Bellmont High School, 1000 N. Adams Drive, Decatur.

Travel baseball team forming
A travel baseball team will be forming in Jay County.
The team, open to Jay County residents 12-and-younger, will have tryouts Aug. 10 at the Portland Junior League fields.

EJMS to hold practices
The East Jay Middle School cross country team will hold practices from now until the beginning of school.
Practices will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 to 9 a.m. at Hudson Family Park.
The practices are optional.

Pool holds aerobics class
An adult water aerobics class will be held at the Portland Pool throughout the summer.
The class, which costs $2, will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, and from 11 to noon on Saturdays.
