Applications are being accepted for the first semester of MusicWorks at Arts Place beginning Aug. 25 and continuing through Dec. 23.
Individual lessons are available in saxaphone, violin, viola, baritone, cello, harp, tuba, trumpet, French horn, flute, piano, trombone, guitar, percussion, voice, electric guitar, recorder and clarinet.
Ensembles and group lessons offered are Brassissimo (Trumpet Emsemble), Brown Paper Sax (Saxaphone Ensemble), Jay County Community Band, Distant Thunder (Percussion Ensemble), Eastern Breeze (Flute Ensemble), Introduction to Violin, Vox Altus (Adult Choir), Second and Third Grade Piano Lab and Guitar Lab.

Night out
Bird enthusiasts will enjoy a night out Aug. 9, with a program on chimney swifts.
“Swift Night Out” will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Limberlost State Historic Site Visitor Center in Geneva. Alex Forsythe, Indiana Audubon Society’s “Young Birder of the Year” will do a presentation on the small bird and then participants will go on a “Swift Sit” in downtown Geneva to watch the birds fly and take shelter in chimneys. Bring lawn chairs.

Gets grant
The Friends of the Arts in Fort Recovery was recently awarded a Project Support Grant through the Ohio Arts Council for $3,018 to aid in artist fee support.
The next event the FOTA will present is FR Talent Night and Contest at 8 p.m. Sunday at in the Hein Amphitheatre at Van Trees Park in Fort Recovery. Talent 21 and younger will compete for cash prizes.

Jerry Jones will perform vintage rock and roll at 7 p.m. Saturday at Webster Depot Park in Dunkirk. The concert is sponsored by Barnum-Brown Insurance and hosted by Bob and Sheila Brown. Bring lawn chairs.
