McIntire breaks record at state

Local roundup

TERRE HAUTE — Bailey McIntire shaved nine seconds off his school record time Saturday in the IHSAA boys cross country state finals.
The South Adams High School sophomore crossed the finish line in 15 minutes, 47 seconds, to place 21st in the final meet of the season. His previous school record was 15:54.6.
“Bailey ran his race exactly as he set out to do it,” SAHS coach Clint Anderson said this morning in an email. “He’s got a great blend of talent and work ethic not many have. His career path has done nothing but improve every race, every season.
“We are extremely excited to see what he can do moving forward.”
McIntire, who was the sectional and regional champion for the Starfires, improved on his time and place from the state meet a year ago when South Adams qualified as a team. He placed 48th as a freshman with a time of 16:19.1
Carmel’s Ben Veatch was this season’s individual state champion in 15:09.3.

Siefring named All-Ohio
Kendra Siefring has already earned conference and district honors as a volleyball player this season.
Now she can add state recognition to her list of accomplishments.

The Fort Recovery High School junior was named honorable mention to the Division III All-Ohio team Sunday.
Siefring averaged 3.3 blocks per match for the Indians, while leading the team with 248 kills (10.3 per match). She also racked up 235 digs, 24 aces and eight assists.
She is the first Tribe player to earn all-state honors since Kinsey Wenning in 2008.

Revolution win title
With a 12-2 victory against Union County on Saturday, the Jay County Revolution 15-and-younger girls soccer travel team finished atop the East Central Indiana Youth Soccer League standings.
Hannah Phillips tallied a hat trick in leading the revolution (7-2-1) to a season-ending victory. Anhely Montes, Mikele Suman and Leah Hamilton all had a pair of goals in the victory, with Eliza Bader and Macenzie Fairchild both notching one goal apiece.
Montes added a trio of assists and Katelyn Zeiger had two. Taylor May and Allison Jobe also chipped in with assists.
Kenzie Litton made eight saves in goal.
In addition to the Revolution, the ECIYSL includes teams from Hagerstown and Centerville as well as squads from Fayette, Henry and Union counties.
