Theatre auditions to be held Wednesday
Taking Note
Jay County Civic Theatre, Inc., is looking for actors for its upcoming presentation of “A Smile For Christmas.”
Auditions will be at 6 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday at Jay County Public Library Community Room.
Show dates are Dec. 11 through Dec. 13 at Jay County Courthouse Auditorium.
Five children, ages 10 through 14, and three adults are needed.
Time for trees
Extension Homemakers of Randolph County will have its 10th annual Time for Trees on Nov. 20 in Husted Hall at Randolph County Fairgrounds to benefit the Shalom Center Food Pantry in Winchester.
A silent auction will begin at 10 a.m. and will feature donated items, decorated trees and wreaths. Local groups will entertain and Santa will visit and take photos with kids, both at 4 p.m.
There will be door prizes, punch and cookies and a light meal will be served. Bidding ends at 6:45 p.m. and winners will be announced at 7 p.m.
Donations of non-perishable food items will be taken at the door. For more information, call (765) 584-2271.
Fall banquet
Indiana Farm Bureau will hold its District 4 Fall Achievement Banquet at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 18 at Taylor University in Upland. Contact Joni Linville, county woman leader, for reservations by Nov. 11.
Holiday Bazaar
Swiss Village Retirement Community will have its Holiday Bazaar from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Nov. 14 at Swiss Village, 1350 W. Main St., Berne.
Items made from Swiss Village residents and local vendors will be on sale. Some of the items include baskets, candles, baby gifts and holiday décor.
Lunch will be served for a nominal fee in the Café Suisse.
Author Kayleen Reusser will have a book signing for her book “World War II Legacies: Stories of Northeast Indiana Veterans” from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Books will be on sale for $20.
In the auditorium, there will be a Holiday Book Fair. Profits from the book fair will be used by “Books Are Fun” to donate books to Kinder Haus Day Care Library.

Indiana Association of School Principals will recognize Chad Dodd, assistant principal at Jay County High School, as the 2014 Secondary Assistant Principal from IASP District 6 on Nov. 22.
Dodd will be presented with an award at a luncheon at the Indianapolis Marriott, with IASP Executive Director Todd Bess and IASP President Michael Crull presiding.
