Library hosting activities for children

There are plenty of activities scheduled for children this month at Jay County Public Library in Portland.
JCPL, 315 N. Ship St., is hosting Lego Club on Tuesdays at 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 4, 11, 18 and 25. This club is for children of all ages.
On Wednesdays, “Story Time” will be at 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 5, 12 and 19. This is for preschoolers, toddlers and babies.
Fridays will be “Mother Goose and Me” at 10 a.m. on Nov. 7, 14 and 21. This event is for preschoolers, toddlers and babies.
Exploring printmaking and clay will be at 2:45 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 14. Sign-up is required for the class, which has a 20-kid limit. Children in kindergarten through fifth grade are welcome.
Winter Festivities will be at 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Nov. 22. Activities include: make it take it crafts, coloring and activity sheets, market stations and guess the number of snowballs.

Students of the Month
West Jay Middle School announced its Students of the Month for October. Sophia Fugiett, daughter of Adam and Cathy Fugiett, is the sixth grade student; Joey Littler, son of Clint and Nicci Littler, is the seventh grade student; and Daniel Fugiett, son of Adam and Cathy Fugiett, is the eighth grade student.
Grant applications
The Portland Foundation is accepting grant applications for its Friends of Jay County Agriculture 2014 grant cycle.
The Foundation makes grants to tax-exempt organizations that have programs that benefit the agriculture in Jay County.
Applications are available at www.portlandfoundation.org and are due at 5 p.m. on Nov. 27.
