Information about the South Adams High School girls basketball team that was printed in Thursday’s edition of The Commercial Review was incorrect.
The Starfires begin their season Saturday at Blackford with the junior varsity game beginning at 6 p.m. The home game that was scheduled for tonight against Daleville has been rescheduled for Nov. 24, with the JV squad tipping off at 6 p.m.
Rear end collision
A Portland man and woman were involved in an accident Thursday morning in Portland.
Bobby Miller, 28, 812 E. 500 North, told police he was traveling west on Votaw Street near Canterbury Lane when he noticed the vehicle in front of his was stopped. He hit his brakes and his 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier slid under the bumper of the 2000 Jimmy GMC he was following.
Betty LeMaster, 80, 1756 W. Ind. 67, was driving her Jimmy GMC.
Damage in the 7:54 a.m. accident was estimated to be between $1,000 and $2,500.
County collision
A Winchester man and Richmond man were involved in an accident Thursday afternoon in Wayne Township.
Mickey Stone, 37, 501 E. Fourth St., Apt. 20, Winchester, told Jay County Sheriff’s Office he was traveling south on U.S. 27 near county road 200 South when he got distracted. When he looked back to the road, the van in front of him was slowing down and Stone’s 2004 Oldsmobile Alero hit it.
Christopher Vanzant, 30, 84 S. 14th St., Apt. 4, was driving the 2011 Chevrolet van. He told Jay County Sheriff’s Office he slowed down because the vehicle in front of him was attempting to turn east into a driveway off U.S. 27.
The Chevrolet is registered to Keystone Automotive District Inc., 90 Shaqnee Ave., Kansas City, Kansas.
Damage in the 4:46 p.m. accident was estimated to be between $2,500 and $5,000.
