Chiefs rout Jets, 41-11

Kendra Muhlenkamp scored more points than the entire Adams Central team Tuesday in the East Jay Middle School eighth grade girls basketball teams’ 41-11 win over the visiting Flying Jets.
East Jay’s seventh graders held off Adams Central for a 14-13 victory.
Muhlenkamp scored 14 points to lead the EJMS eighth graders. Klarissa Hemmelgarn and Hanna Dillon added eight and seven points respectively, and Gwen Omstead chipped in with five. Sammie Twigg tallied four points.
For the seventh graders, Taylor May led the Chiefs’ effort with six points, and Macey Weitzel notched four. Mikele Suman and Anhely Montes had two points each.
The eighth graders moved to 2-0 (1-0 Allen County Athletic Conference), while the seventh graders evened their record at 1-1 (1-0 ACAC).

MONROE — In its first ACAC game of the season, East Jay’s seventh grade boys hoops team beat the host Adams Central Flying Jets on Tuesday, 25-21.
The EJMS eighth graders lost, 45-31.
Noah Arbuckle scored a team-high nine points for the EJMS seventh graders. Gabe Link tallied seven points. Adding three points apiece were Alex McFarland, Charlie Brunswick and Brayden Sprunger.
Ryan Schlechty led the eighth graders with eight points, Clint Coy notched six points and Korbin Auker chipped in with five.
The Chief seventh graders improved to 1-1 (1-0 ACAC), while the eighth graders fell to 0-2 (0-1 ACAC).

DUNKIRK — West Jay’s eighth grade boys basketball team picked up a season-opening victory Tuesday over the South Adams Starfires, 22-17.
The seventh grade Eagles fell 31-21.
Wyatt Geesaman led eighth graders with eight points, and Gabe Faulkner and Noah Harris each notched seven.
For the WJ seventh graders, Trevon Vore recorded a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Brinnin Wasson tallied seven points and Storm McLaughlin had four.
