Holiday events begin to fill calendar

Taking Note

The Jay County Historical Museum will present Christmas at the Museum with open houses from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 29, Dec. 6, 13 and 20.
Several trees, decorated by area churches, will be on display.
Museum candlelight tours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Dec. 6. Mr. and Mrs. Jonas Votaw will greet guests as they arrive, and music will be provided by “Play It by Ear Quartet” from Randolph County.
Christmas Family Festivities Day will be from 1 to 4 p.m. on Dec. 14. There will be craft activities, Christmas stories, a scavenger hunt and a visit with Santa at 2 p.m. The museum is located at 903 E. Main St. in Portland.

At Minnetrista
Tea & Talk: Christmas Windows will be held from 3 to 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 3 at Minnetrista in Muncie. Enjoy refreshments and learn more about the original Ball Store and McKinley windows. The cost is $10.
Stroll through a winter wonderland at the Enchanted Luminaria Walk from 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 5 and 6 at Minnetrista in Muncie. Also visit the Orchard Shop, tour Ball mansions, take a train or carriage ride, see holiday handmade crafts in the Center Building and listen to holiday music.

Ridgeville lights
A Celebration of Lights will be held Dec. 6 at Ridgeville Fire Department/Library.
A soup supper, featuring chili or broccoli and cheese soup, will be from 4 to 7 p.m. There will also be Wick’s Pies. Donations will be taken.
The lighting of the Christmas tree will be at 6:15 p.m., Santa Claus will visit from 5 to 7 p.m., and carols will be sung at 6:30 p.m. by students from Deerfield Elementary School.
“The Steps” Christmas program will begin at 7:30 p.m. at The Steps on South Walnut Street.
The event is sponsored by the Ridgeville Volunteer Fire Department.

Tree of Hope
Family LifeCare in Berne will have a community Tree of Hope Memorial Service at 6 p.m. on Dec. 8.
The annual service is in remembrance and celebration of the lives of people who have passed away in the community. There will be music, memories shared and a tree to decorate with personalized bows. For more information, call Karen Kaehr at (800) 355-2817 ext. 323.

Recital
Arts Place Blackford County Center in Hartford City will have a holiday recital at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 9. The recital will be for piano students who have studied under Ann Clamme-Monroe and guitar students under Cheryl Barnes.
