The Jay County High School boys basketball team overcame an 11-point, first-half deficit, forced overtime and knocked off the visiting Muncie Central Bearcats 43-40 Wednesday in the season opener for both squads.
Justin Dirksen scored the game-tying points on a put-back hoop in the final minute of regulation, and JCHS never trailed again. Jay Houck, who led the way with 16 points, and seniors Nick Clemens and Dirksen went 5-for-5 at the line in overtime to seal the win.
Adam Dirksen followed Houck with 12 points.
