Quinn to leave newspaper’s staff

Samm Quinn, who has served as The Commercial Review’s city reporter for more than a year, will be leaving the paper.
The 2013 Franklin College graduate has accepted a job as a reporter at The Daily Reporter in Greenfield. Her last day at The Commercial Review will be Friday.
Quinn started with The CR in August 2013 as a reporter covering Portland city government and the police beat. She also wrote a weekly column called Say It Again Samm.
The Daily Reporter is a 9,000-circulation newspaper owned by Home News Enterprises. She’ll join the staff as a general news reporter.

Work continues
Ardagh Group, parent company of Dunkirk’s glass container manufacturing plant, continues to take steps toward an initial public offering of its stock late next year.
The latest was the release of financial data to investors that shows the company has both massive revenue but also, The Irish Times reported this week, massive debt.
Revenue for the first nine months of 2014 was 3.56 billion Euros. Net debt at the end of that period was 4.8 billion Euros.
“The objective of the initial public offering is to bring in funds to help lower debt,” The Irish Times reported.
“Earlier this year, over a two-month period, the group refinanced $4.2 billion, saving itself annual interest costs of $90 million. It has also rescheduled the dates on which its major debt repayments fall due, so that the material dates are now as far back as 2019,” The Irish Times reported.
Meanwhile, the company reported a net loss of $10 million in the third quarter, compared to a profit of $1 million a year ago, according to The Irish Independent.

Gillespie certified
Donald Gillespie, a mortgage and consumer loan officer for CrossRoads Financial Federal Credit Union, has earned the certification of Credit Union Financial Counselor.

The designation acknowledges credit union professionals who are ready to assist credit union members reach their financial goals. To earn the certification, Gillespie completed eight learning modules and passed two exams.

Bennett to see patients
As part of a new partnership between Jay County Hospital and Central Indiana Orthopedics, PC, Muncie, the hospital will be forming Jay County Orthopedics.
Dr. Kerry Bennett will be seeing patients one day a week beginning in January at the Jay County Health Partners office located in JCH. He is a general orthopedic surgeon originally from Farmland.

Mercer hospital named
Mercer County Joint Township Community Hospital, a part of Mercer Health, has been named a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures by The Joint Commission, which is the leading accreditor of health care organizations in the country.
This is the second year in a row the hospital has earned the title. To be a top performer, the hospital had to meet three performance criteria including achieving cumulative performance of 95 percent or above across all reported accountability measures.

Plant expanding
TI Automotive in Ossian announced this week plans to add 70 new jobs and invest $10 million in new equipment.
The Auburn Hills, Mich., company currently employees a workforce of 150 in Ossian. Hourly wages for the new positions are expected to be $19.20.
The company makes plastic fuel tank and fuel delivery systems, including fluid-carrying technology for heating and air conditioning.
