Oktoberfest to be held at high school
Taking Note
The Jay County High School German Club will host an Oktoberfest from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the south hallway of the high school.
German bratwurst, potato salad, black forest cake and apple strudel will be for sale. There will also be German music and a culture display.
Depression seminars
Jay County Hospital will host three seminars on depression in conference rooms A and B, with a free meal provided at each.
‘Depression is Real’ will begin at noon on Oct. 21 with speaker Dr. John Gibson in conference rooms A and B. Gibson will discuss the prevalence, signs, symptoms and assessment of depression, self-harm, dementia/depression and apathy versus depression.
Dr. Gibson will discuss these topics with community professionals at noon on Oct. 22 in ‘Assessing Self-Harm and Abuse for Professionals.’ Gibson will also talk about treatment options.
‘What Does Depression Look Like?’ will be held at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 4 with Alice Jordan-Miles, assistant director of the Behavioral Health and Family Studies Institute at IPFW.

Creature feature
A Creature Feature about the deer will be held at 11 a.m. Oct. 18 at Limberlost State Historic Site Visitor Center in Geneva.
Learn why deer are more numerous than ever and view deer antlers and skulls.

Swiss Village will host its annual Baby Day from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday in the auditorium. Babies are invited to visit with residents and will be given a gift made by residents.
