Last week vs. Leo: The Lions scored 35 points in the first half in a 42-7 defeat of the Patriots. Leo racked up 452 yards of total offense while holding the Patriots to just 152 yards. Jay County’s only score came on a 32-yard pass from Joey Link to Levi Stant late in the fourth quarter.
Season leaders: Passing — Nick Clemens – 15-of-37 passing for 126 yards and four interceptions. Rushing — Cole Stigleman – 79 carries for 547 yards and four touchdowns. Receiving — Levi Stant – two catches for 56 yards and one touchdown. Defense — Mario Rodriguez – 49 total tackles, 1.5 sacks and one fumble recovery.

Last week vs. Fort Wayne Concorida: Heritage dropped its third game of the season in a 27-14 loss to Concordia. Heritage gained nearly 300 yards of total offense, but was held scoreless in the second half after putting up 14 points in the second quarter.
Season leaders: Passing — Branson Dossen – 98-of-186 for 1,306 yards, 11 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. Rushing — Justyn Hart – 110 carries for 508 yards and four touchdowns. Receiving — Austin Conrad – 37 catches for 484 yards and five touchdowns. Defense — Bradley Scott – 3.5 sacks.

Last season: Jay County came up with two big defensive stops in the second half, and its offense scored 18 points after halftime for a 36-27 win in Portland. Jay County’s J.D.?Mangas rushed for 161 yards and Levi Stant scored three touchdowns in the victory. Heritage QB?Branson?Dossen threw for 219 yards and a touchdown for the visiting Patriots.
Game notes: This is the fifth meeting in as many years between new conference rivals, with Heritage holding the advantage 3-1 ... Both of Jay County’s victories have come on the road, Aug. 29 at Blackford and Sept. 19 at Bluffton ... Heritage has held opponents to fewer than 30 points in six games this season, while Jay County as allowed more than 30 points in five straight games ... Jay County has dropped its regular-season finale in each of the last six seasons, with its last victory coming in a 28-13 win in 2007 against Greenfield-Central.
