Chiefs clobber Eagles
Daniel Ostrowski scored two touchdowns Tuesday as the East Jay Middle School eighth grade football team beat county rival West Jay at Jay County High School.
The eighth grade Chiefs defeated the Eagles 47-19, and the EJMS seventh graders also won, 18-6.
Ostrowski found the end zone on runs of 20 and 70 yards. Ryan and Michael Schlechty scored on runs of 25 and 20 yards respectively as East Jay led 34-0 at half.
Parker Grimes connected with Gavin Randal for a 50-yard TD pass, and Darian Rojas reached paydirt on a 60-yard scamper.
Nick Raines led West Jay with 91 rushing yards. Wyatt Geesaman rushed for 41 yards and added 34 through the air, and Gabe Faulkner chipped in with 55 passing yards.
For the East Jay seventh graders, Jackson Lyons put his team on the board with a 5-yard touchdown run, then MaCuly LeMaster scored from 15 yards out. Logan Duran also got in on the scoring, catching a pass from Gabe Link and reaching the end zone for a 25-yard TD.
Hunter Mills and Brian Newman both amassed 100 yards rushing, and Lyons added 50.
West Jay’s Zakk Attkins completed two passes to Trevon Vore for 52 yards.
Both EJMS squads finish the season 7-2 and earned a share of the Allen County Athletic Conference title.
