Deer struck
A Portland woman and Portland man were involved in deer accidents Wednesday evening in Jay County.
Sara Spahr, 22, 5548 S. 200 West, told Jay County Sheriff’s Office she was traveling north on county road 200 West when a deer ran into the roadway.
She was unable to avoid hitting the animal with her 2010 Toyota Rav4.
Damage in the 7:05 p.m. accident was estimated to be between $1,000 and $2,500.
Eric Trobridge, 44, 114 Jack Imel Drive, told police he was traveling west on county road 900 South when a deer entered his lane.
He was unable to avoid hitting the animal with his 2004 Chevrolet 2500HD.
Damage in the 8:28 p.m. accident was estimated to be between $1,000 and $2,500.

Car struck
A Portland woman was involved in an accident Wednesday at Circle K South in Portland.

Faith Arbuckle, 31, 689 S. Western Ave., Portland, told police she was backing out of a parking space at the convenience store, 729 S. Meridian St., when her 2004 Toyota Sienna struck a parked 2001 Chevrolet Impala, registered to Carrie Fry, 1237 N. U.S. 27, Lot 66, Portland.
Damage in the 4:17 p.m. accident was estimated to be between $1,000 and $2,500.
Rifles missing
A representative from the American Legion post in Portland reported a theft to police Wednesday.
Fred Bailey told police five ceremonial rifles have gone missing in the last 40 years or so from the post, located at 211 W. Walnut St., Portland.
The theft was reported at 11:08 p.m.

Knife stolen
A Portland man reported a theft to police Wednesday.
Greg Neighbors, 710 E. Arch St., told police someone vandalized the door to his garage and stole a handmade knife from inside.
The theft was reported at 1:29 p.m.
