Fort Recovery football ranked eighth

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Fort Recovery football team is earning state recognition.
In the most recent Associated Press poll, the Indians (3-1, 1-1 Midwest Athletic Conference) are ranked eighth in Division VII.
Fort Recovery received 54 points in the poll, one point more than North Philadelphia Tuscarawas Central Catholic. Conference rival Marion Local (4-0, 2-0 MAC) is the top-ranked team with 237 points.
The Tribe is slated to play on the road against the Parkway Panthers at 7:30 p.m. Friday, and then it returns home Oct. 3 against the New Bremen Cardinals. The Panthers and Cardinals are both winless on the season.

Cavs top Tribe
SYDNEY, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s volleyball team won the second set to even its match with Lehman Catholic on Monday, but couldn’t complete the rally in a 26-24, 21-25, 25-15, 25-13 loss to the Cavaliers.
Kendra Siefring led the Indians (7-7) with 12 kills and three blocks to go with her nine digs. Rachel Pugh notched 14 digs, and Cassidy Rammel had 11 digs and 10 assists. Tori Lennartz chipped in with eight kills and four digs.
Grace Thien had eight kills to lead the Tribe junior varsity team to a 25-22, 25-17 win over the Cavs.

Carley Stone notched six kills, and Alexis Bubp tallied eight digs. Kelsey Jutte tallied a team-high five aces.
The Indians’ freshman team hosted Minster, losing to the Wildcats 15-25, 25-15, 26-24.
Sydney Dues had team-highs in kills (seven) and assists (nine), and Alyssa Post recorded eight digs. Kiah Wendel had 13 assists and five aces.

Starfires sweep Generals
BERNE — The South Adams High School boys tennis team swept the visiting Wayne Generals on Monday.
The Starfire doubles teams both won by a score of 6-1, 6-0, with Cole Myers and Jared Grabau taking care of Andrew Amrstrong and Tristan Tucker at No. 1 doubles. The SAHS No. 2 doubles team of Kam Delong and Marcus Teeter beat Jack Bixby and Eli Romary.
At No. 1 singles, David Musleman beat Thomas Wartenberg 6-1, 6-0, and Dexter Miller didn’t lose a game against Isaac Romary at No. 2 singles, winning 6-0, 6-0.
Brett Litwiller won at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-1.
