Affolder making an impact
Collegiate Check-up
Collin Affolder was a crucial part of the Starfire baseball team last season.
Now he’s making his mark at the collegiate level.
Affolder, a 2014 South Adams High School graduate, had three hits for Bethel College in its doubleheader sweep of the Goshen College Maple Leafs on Monday.
The freshman went 1-for-2 in the Pilots’ 8-1 win in game one, and added a pair of hits, an RBI and scored a run in an 8-4 victory in the nightcap.
He also smacked a double, drew a walk and scored a run March 26 in a 6-1 victory over the Maple Leafs.
Affolder has started all 18 games for Bethel (7-11, 4-4 Crossroads League), and is one of six Pilot players to do so. He is batting .232 with three doubles, two RBIs and seven runs, and has only struck out six times in his 56 at bats. He is also 2-for-2 on stolen base attempts.
Drew Houck
Jay County – 2011
Played for the Indiana University East men’s golf team Thursday and Friday in the Brescia Invitational at Christmas Lake Golf Course in Santa Claus.
Houck shot an 84 on the opening day of the tournament, in which the Red Wolves finished last out of four teams. He added an 89 for his second 18 holes.
