Hit and run
A parked car owned by a Portland woman was hit by an unknown vehicle Friday afternoon at Jay County Hospital.
The 2001 Buick Park Avenue, owned by Esther Marchal, 105 Bittersweet Lane, was struck around 1:04 p.m. After the unknown vehicle hit Marchal’s car it left the scene, according to the Portland Police Department report.
Damage was estimated to be between $1,000 and $2,500.
In area courts
Dustin W. Wycuff, 19, Portland, pleaded no contest in Celina (Ohio) Municipal Court to a charge of inducing panic and menacing. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail, with 85 days suspended on the condition he has no like violations for three years, completes an anger management course and does not enter any Fort Recovery school grounds for three years. He was also assessed court costs.
In the same court, the following residents were fined for speeding: Thomas Martin, 43, Portland, $35; Gary Post, 54, Fort Recovery, $25; Kevin Dirksen, 25, Bryant, $25; Rory Campbell, 48, Portland, $48; Andrea Hemmert, 36, Fort Recovery, $25; Bailee Gree, 21, Bryant, $25; and Johnny Hilty, 39, Bryant $25. Brittany Crabtree, 19, Portland, was fined $35 for failure to maintain an assured, clear distance ahead.
