Tribe softball falls to Fort Loramie

FORT LORAMIE, Ohio — The Fort Recovery softball team dropped its 10th game of the season Tuesday in a 13-1 loss to the Fort Loramie Redskins in six innings.
Fort Loramie led 5-0 after two innings before the Indians (0-10) scored a run. But the host Redskins answered with five in the third and three in the fourth for the lopsided victory.
Devin Post, Haley Knapke and Kasey Vogel notched the only hits for the Indians.
Knapke drove in Vogel for the Tribe’s only run.
Chelsea Timmerman took the loss, surrendering 13 runs — eight earned — on 15 hits in four innings. She struck out one and walked two.
SA track wins
WOODBURN — South Adams’ boys and girls track teams both picked up wins against Woodlan on Tuesday.
The SAHS girls won 85-38, and the boys edged the Warriors 62-61.
Addie Wanner, Sidney Sprunger and Olivia Von Gunten each won a pair of events for South Adams. Wanner was first in both the 100-meter hurdles and the high jump. Sprunger won the shot put and discus, and Von Gunten finished first in the 1,600 and 3,200 runs.
Katelin Hawbaker (800 run) and Hannah Imel (400 dash) also earned wins for South Adams, which took first in the 4x400 and 4x800 relays as well.
Bailey McIntire and Drew LeFever were double winners for the boys. LeFever won the discus and shot put, with McIntire crossing the finish line in first in both the 1,600 and 3,200.
Isaiah Amstutz (400 dash) and David Steffen (800 run) also picked up wins.

Stars rally
BERNE — The South Adams softball team rallied from a 3-0 deficit Tuesday to defeat the Lakewood Park Panthers 11-4.
Trailing 3-0 heading into the bottom of the third inning, South Adams scored a pair of runs and then struck for three more in the fourth to take a 5-3 lead.
The Panthers got back within one after five innings until the host Starfires scored six in the sixth to pull away.
Loren Sparks led South Adams with three hits. Alaina Johnston had a pair of doubles, driving in a pair of runs, and Kierstyn Grimm also had two RBIs on two hits, including a double.
Morgan Alberson had two hits, including a triple, and Casi Evans added two singles.
Karleigh Whetsel earned the complete-game win, allowing four runs — two earned — on five hits. She struck out six and walked one.
