Patriot track teams defeat Heritage
MONROEVILLE — In a battle of Patriots, Jay County came out on top Tuesday in a 97-31 victory over Heritage.
The Jay County boys also won, 76-36. The Patriot girls moved to 10-1 (5-0 Allen County Athletic Conference), while the boys improved to 2-9 (1-4 ACAC)
Ava Kunkler and Emma Laux were both dual-event winners for the girls, who won 14 of the 15 events.
Kunkler was first in the 400-meter dash and the high jump, and Laux won the 100 dash and long jump.
Lucy Laux won the 200 dash, Erika Kunkler finished first in the 800 run and Megan Wellman won the 1,600 run. Gabby Kunkler also earned a victory in the 3,200 run.
Britlyn Dues (100 hurdles), Rebekah Corwin (shot put) and McKensie Muhlenkamp (discus) each picked up individual victories.
Taylor Homan had her hand in all three winning relay races. She joined Ava Kunkler, Erika Kunkler and Briana Muhlenkamp to win the 4x800 relay and teamed with Lucy Laux, Lexi Myers and Emma Laux to take first in the 4x400 relay.
Homan, Myers, Dues and Ava Kunkler won the 4x400 relay.
For the JCHS boys, Aaron Neal won the both hurdles races and the long jump, and Andrew Trewyn was victorious in the high jump and discus.
Nathan Heitkamp (100 dash), Alec Burchum (200 dash), Luke Weaver (800 run) and Dallas Dudleston (3,200 run) also won.
