Rainbow Bottom tour is Saturday

A guided tour of Gene Stratton-Porter’s Rainbow Bottom will be held Saturday in Geneva.
Participants are asked to meet at 9 a.m. at the Limberlost State Historic Site Visitor Center in Geneva and then drive separately to Limberlost County Park, north of Geneva.
After crossing the historic covered bridge and the Wabash River bridge, walkers will get a tour of rainbow bottom and a great blue herron rookery.
A naturalist will talk of the plants and wildlife and the historical significane to settlers and the Miami Indians.

Ride with Lincoln
In celebration of National Train Day on May 9, visitors will get to ride the Whitewater Valley Railroad with Abraham Lincoln re-enactor Dean Dorrell.
The train will leave Connersville’s Grand Central Station, 455 Market St., at 10 a.m. to travel to Metamora.
Lincoln “Dorrell” will speak about the railroads and their effects on his election. He will also answer questions and give a speech before leaving Metamora and there will be time for photographs.

Arts in the Park
Arts Place in Portland will kick off Arts in the Park with a festival from 2 to 5 p.m. on May 17 at Arts Park, across the street from Arts Place on 131 E. Walnut St. in Portland.
There will be face, t-shirt and chalk painting, special effects make-up demonstrations, storytelling, stage combat tricks, balloon animals, a juggler and food and drinks available for purchase. Jay County Community Band will play at 3 p.m.
